Montessori Children’s House of Northfield

Montessori Children’s House was founded in 2007 and is licensed by the STATE OF MINNESOTA’S DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES. MCH is working to become a full affiliate of the American Montessori Society. AMS supports and promotes Montessori education by ensuring that its school members have Montessori certified teachers, a full complement of Montessori materials, and “open door” policy for visitors, periodic visits from Montessori specialists, copies of all necessary licenses, and agree to adhere to the AMS Code of Professional Ethics.
Special Programs
Our Montessori programs offer a carefully prepared environment, rich with variety and learning experiences that lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning. In our child-centered classrooms, children are respected as individuals and allowed to cultivate their innate desire to learn. Dr. Maria Montessori was one of the first to truly understand the value of learning through play. She likened the mind of the child, ages 2 through 8 years, to a sponge – absorbing knowledge from the environment naturally and joyfully. Here at MCH, we cherish the opportunity to implement this child-focused philosophy.

Stimulating Environment
Our classrooms are filled with stimulating educational materials that engage and attract the attention and curiosity of the children. Our large backyard playground is shaded, fenced, and offers a natural play area. Our two-acre property includes a large vegetable garden, pumpkin patch, chicken coop and woodland area. We are located on the southern edge of Northfield adjacent to the Northfield Middle School grounds.
