Typical Daily Schedule at Montessori Children’s House:
Classroom One – 8:30 – 11:30
Afternoon class 12:30 – 3:30
Classroom Two – 8:15 – 11:15
8:30 – 10:30 Self-directed work with the classroom materials. Teacher works with individuals or with small groups of children, children may work alone or in small groups of their choosing; self-serve snack available during most of the session.
10:30 – 11:00 Group time for participating in song and creative movement, listening to stories, sharing information/interesting objects.
11:00 – 11:30 Recess outside.
Children enrolled in the Full Day Program have lunch together and a nap/rest time. The afternoon sessions offers children the best of both worlds: the nurturing comfort of a home-like environment and the challenging stimulation of Montessori. many activities such as science experiments, arts and cooking projects, outdoor play and games are provided. One of the basic needs of young children is stability. That stability is fostered in our Full Day Program, where the children come every week to the same room and the same adults. This breeds security, order, and independence in our Preschool students.
